The Beast

Sent to battle
Here to fight
Kill the creature of the night
Take your guns
Take your knives
Protect your children and your wives
Grab your sword
Grab your bow
Don your armour here we go
Set on fire
Burn ablaze
So begins the final phase

He’ll take your children
And stalk them in the night
He’ll swallow them down to feed his appetite
He’ll wreak havoc whilst he’s free
So come on and follow me

Through the forest
Through the wood
Going to kill him like we should
Marching strong
Banners high
To ourselves only do we lie
Because we fear
And we jeer
What we do not understand
And this beast we cannot comprehend

To the castle
To the drawbridge
Climbing down and o’er ridge
He hides behind these walls of stone
Only wishing to be left alone

Cutting wood
Hacking rock
Both barrels lock and stock
Marching up
Up the stairs
Make a challenge if he dares
Will he come?
Will he fight?
Or will he flee at such a sight?
To the wing
To the tower
There the beast does cower

Here is something truly terrible
It’s a beast, he has fangs
Giant claws, massive paws from which they hang
Hear him roar
Hear him growl
Watch us slaying something foul
Here he lies
Here he dies
No more may he roam
Oh we are not going home
Not until he’s dead
Not until every drop of blood has he shed

See the beast lying on the floor
Drowned in a bloody pool
Why do we make such war?
How can we be so cruel?

Now shed a tear
For what you fear
Take no notice if others sneer
Cast away your doubts
Forget your suspicions
For they only show themselves as violent apparitions
I lay down my weapon
I throw out my arms
Embracing my troublesome qualms
Now I understand
Now I see
We are all equal in the eyes of He

I look at the lifeless creature
I revere the butchered remains
I am repulsed by the blood on my clothes it stains
And now for once at least
Admire the blood-matted fallen beast
